TONKOTA WATERFALLS

It is one of the highest waterfalls in the Visakhapatnam agency. These are the fascinating falls cascading down the Eastern Ghats in two steps surrounded by clouds touching the mountains with fabulous visuals. These waterfalls are also called Peddabayalu waterfalls or Velamamidi waterfalls. These waterfalls are located in the eastern ghats. You have to visit Vishakapatnam then you will reach the waterfalls. The distance between the Visakhapatnam and the Tonkota waterfalls is near 95km. When your journey to the via Pendurthi-Devarapalli-Pinakota-Pandirimamidi-Bandavalasa-Peddabayalu.Upon reaching Bandavalasa, one has to travel 3 km along a dirt road to reach Paddabayalu village and from there walk to reach the falls.

Another route is from Vizag to Paddabayalu village via Pendurthi-Chodavaram-Ghatrod-Paderu-Hukumpeta-Kotnapalli-Shantari-Uppa-Sarasapadu-Velamamidi. Once you reach Velamamidi, you have to take a dirt road to the falls from where you have to walk for about 150 km.
In the winter season, the sunlight does not touch the waterfall, which looks Amazing to us, this waterfall water is as cold as the fridge water. The Tonkota Temple Festival is held on the 1st Sunday of January every year.

It's too dangerous due to the dust-free road in the rainy season to the lower wards.
These waterfalls you can reach with the car and bikes. After you depart from Velamaidi village 2 kilometers you go through the rural road. You reach the Peddabayalu village by walk to reach the waterfalls. But there is no bike parking and no car parking, you park next to the earthen road.

And now we start the journey to the waterfalls by walk. It is danger part of these waterfalls when we go down to the waterfalls it is to risk factor to children and old people. It's much like an adventure. So we can go with friends and families but be alert. This valley is to height it's above the 200 meters. The Peddabayalu village is called the organic village so we don't leave our wastage and as possible as we should keep clean that area.

Somewhere along the way, it was a lot worse. The journey to those waterfalls is an adventure where the valleys and hills are so high that it feels like we have touched the sky. There is a viewpoint at the Hanuman statue where the valleys look beautiful. The village of Sarasapadu is located while traveling over Paderu. The village is lined with beautiful green fields as seen from the road point.

In that area of waterfalls, there are no hotels or restaurants as well as no tiffin shops, only small shops where you can only sell chips, water bottles and cool drinks. There are no wine shops or bar shops in this place, which is a very good thing because this waterfall is so high it is very dangerous to go for a drink. If we have any problem with that waterfall, there is no hospital nearby, then we have to go to Uppa village there is a small hospital in that village. The village is 10 km away from the falls.

Thank you.
This is all for tourist information.
